Top ten world attractions to visit
As an avid traveler and adventure seeker, i often dream of the next beautiful place that i would love to visit. The list is endless but here are my top ten world attractions.
Sydney opera house
It is one of the modern world's most fascinating architectural pieces and one of the most well known opera houses in the world. It host over 1,500 art performances with attendances of over 1 million people yearly. It's distinctive features, especially it's shell shaped concrete panel roofs are one of the most beautiful artificial sights under the night sky.
Angkor Wat, Cambodia
This is the world's largest religious building and was built in the 12th century for king Suryavaman 11. It is widely recognized as an iconic representation of ancient Khmer architecture. It's towers, moats, high walls and sculptural representation of many ancient guardian spirits of both Hinduism and Buddhism make it a thing of breathtaking beauty and interest to followers of both religions.
Eiffel tower, Paris
How could anyone speak of love without mentioning Paris the city of love. And right in the center of it is the Eiffel tower. It rises above Paris at a height of 1,063 feet and is the most paid visited monument in the world. There are fewer thrills than seeing Paris from the top of the Eiffel tower.
Taj Mahal
For any romantic, this is a place that has to be seen. It symbolizes the lasting tribute of a king to mourn the passing of his beloved queen. Located in Agra, India. The Taj Mahal is made up of a number of buildings but the most famous of them is the Mausoleum with walls made of white marble to symbolize the emperor Shah Jahan's love for his dead queen. It took 21 years to build this monument with specialist workers from all over Asia. It is widely considered an ancient Muslim architectural masterpiece.
The Colosseum
Rome, the eternal city, itself is arguably the home of ancient and modern architecture with its pantheon, st peter's basilica, and the Vatican city, but nothing else stands as a symbol of ancient roman architecture than the Colosseum. it's rich history as a symbol of ancient roman civilization at its peak make it a place to definitely see.
Iguazu Falls
If you're a lover of waterfalls, then you should certainly try to see the Iguazu waterfalls. Located between the borders of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, the waterfalls have a 269 ft drop and stretch out for over a distance of 1.7mi (2.7km). The rich surrounding vegetation add an extra dimension to its beauty.
Great wall of China
Any man made structure that is said to be visible from space is certainly worth seeing. This structure was built over centuries and is said to stretch out to a combined length of over 5,500.3 miles (8,851.8Km). and 30 ft at its thickest point. It is said to be visible from a height of about 100 miles from low orbit around the earth.
Fernando De Noronha beach, Brazil
The beautiful beaches of this island chain off the north eastern coast of Brazil are said to be the most beautiful in the world and it's obvious why. Amazingly crystal clear water, a gorgeous panoramic view, distinctive ecosystem and fascinating landscape all combine to make this destination any beach lovers dream.
The pyramids of Giza, Egypt
These ancient wonders of the world still continue to cause plenty of speculation among scientists and researchers as to their origins, how they were built and how they've managed to withstand the test of time. The pyramids of Giza consist of three individual pyramids, the pyramids of Khufu, Kafhre and Menkaura. For anyone who has been fortunate enough to visit them, they just give off the feeling that somewhere within those great stones there lie great secrets and mysteries of mankind's past.
The palm islands of Dubai
These are a chain of artificial islands off the coast of Dubai in the Persian gulf. They are such an attraction because of the engineering genius required to create these modern marvels. The chain is made up of three beautifully designed palm shaped artificial islands. When completed the palm islands will be home to well over a hundred hotels, water front malls, theme parks and resorts.
